So... what exactly is Root & Bloom?
So… what exactly is Root & Bloom?

Most people who follow me on here know me as Paul @ The Tidy Garden.
I cut grass, weed, prune things, tidy stuff up and spend an alarming amount of my life filling green bins.
And I love it.
But earlier this year I also started something else with my mate Claire.
Root & Bloom Gardens.
It’s basically the bigger stuff.
The jobs where someone says…
“Paul, I haven’t got a clue what to do with this.”
Perfect. 😂
We’ve now done 7 projects together and learnt a LOT along the way.
We’ve taken on blank gardens, tired gardens, horrible empty borders, raised beds and gardens that weren’t actually bad… they just needed a bit of love and some proper thought.
We design the planting, choose the plants, source everything, improve the soil, position it all and then plant the lot.
Claire knows a ridiculous amount about plants.
I’m good at getting stuff done.
It seems to work. 😂
And actually I’m really proud of some of the gardens we’ve created this year.
But summer was HARD.
Trying to establish a newly planted garden when it’s 30 degrees and hasn’t rained since approximately 1987 isn’t much fun.
So we’ve deliberately been a bit cautious.
Now the heat has finally gone, we’re ready to get stuck into a few more.
And we’ve got some space in October.
So if you’ve got a garden, border or horrible bit outside your kitchen window that you’ve been staring at all summer thinking…
“We really need to do something with that.”
Give us a shout.
It doesn’t have to be a complete garden makeover.
It might just be one big border.
A raised bed.
Some proper planting around a patio.
Or taking an existing garden and making it feel a bit more… finished.
That’s really what Root & Bloom is about, and autumn is actually a cracking time to do it.
The soil is still warm, it’s cooler, hopefully there’s some rain about and plants have time to get themselves settled before next summer tries to cook everything again.
We’re not looking for loads of jobs, just a few nice projects, for nice people, reasonably close to home.
So if you’ve been thinking about doing something with your garden, maybe now’s the time.
Drop me a message and we’ll come and have a look.
There will be no hard sell.
There may be tea.
Biscuits ideally.

Garden maintenance when you want it tidy.
Garden design & planting when you want something more.
Good landscaping creates the space. Great planting changes how that space feels.
