Tended together, gardens become places where people rediscover purpose, connection, and quiet collective pride growing.

From The Tidy Garden – to Root and Bloom

A New Chapter Growing Alongside The Tidy Garden

For a long time now, I’ve genuinely loved looking after people’s gardens.

There’s something very satisfying about regular visits, steady progress, and seeing a space slowly settle into itself. Lawns behaving properly. Borders back under control. Hedges no longer plotting a takeover of the footpath. Little wins that make a real difference to how a garden feels day to day.

That’s what The Tidy Garden has always been about for me.

Helping people enjoy their outdoor spaces again.

But over the last few years, something else has been quietly growing alongside that work.

Every now and then a garden comes along that needs more than maintenance. A rethink. A reset. A bit of imagination and effort working together. The kind of project where you stand back afterwards and think, yes… that’s changed everything.

Those are the jobs I’ve always especially enjoyed.

So I decided to make space for them properly.

That’s where Root and Bloom Gardens comes in.

Rather than trying to squeeze bigger transformation projects in around the edges of a busy maintenance schedule, I wanted to commit to doing a handful each year properly. Not rushed. Not squeezed between hedge cuts. Just a few carefully chosen gardens where I can really focus and do work I’m proud to put my name to.

Another big part of this step forward has been working with Claire.

We’ve worked together for a while now, and it’s become clear we make a very natural team. Between us we cover the pink jobs and the blue jobs, the planting ideas and the practical build, the vision and the getting-it-done part. Gardens need both, and it’s exciting to be able to offer that together.

Before After

The Tidy Garden isn’t going anywhere. I still love the regular work and the relationships that come with it. But Root and Bloom Gardens gives me somewhere to channel the creative side of what I do as well.

The plan is simple.

Each year we’ll take on a small number of proper passion projects. Gardens that are ready for a fresh start. Spaces that could become something special with the right attention.

I’m really looking forward to what’s ahead this season and beyond.

There are some lovely ideas already taking shape, and whilst few believed in my ambition when I took this step a while back, noone can deny the journey is well on it’s way.

Watch this space.
